Sleepless in Seattle Pittsburgh

Exhibit A: My side of the bed

Another restless night of sleep. As you can clearly see (and my hubby can attest to) I was tossing and turning in my sleep (or lack thereof) last night. I don't know what is going on, but I have got to get a handle on my sleep schedule or I'm gonna go crazy! We were in bed my 10pm and it seems as soon as the lights were out my mind began racing and when I finally checked to see what time it was, it was close to 1am. My alarm was set for 5:30 a.m. for my morning cardio and since my phone tells me how many hours/minutes until the alarm goes off, I remember wanting to cry because I didn't even feel sleepy and I knew I would be a wreck in the morning. And. I. Was.

At 5:30am I was awoken by the theme song from "Rocky" and I immediately finger-punched the snooze button (Sorry, Balboa) Ten minutes later I sucker finger punched it again and I fell back asleep until my Darling's alarm clock went off at 7:00am and I realized: Game Over. I got out of bed and put on my workout clothes I had set out the night before and my tummy grumbled (I swear a little lion live
s inside me. No really, I'm quite sure of it. ROAR!!!). I decided as hungry as I was, I was going to get my cardio out of the way and then come back and eat breakfast. I felt jealous sad watching hubby eat breakfast all by himself since we love eating breakfast together, but I took one for the team (my team!) and headed to our apartment gym for an hour on the treadmill. Normally I go to our "real" gym, but since I was just so blasted hungry I decided I'd get my cardio in right there at our apt complex and shave 15-20 minute of driving time to and from the gym so I could eat sooner! (Priorities, priorities) I did an hour of no- low-intensity speed-walking and let me tell you, I think I burn more calories in my sleep than I did this morning! I'm used to doing HIIT and I was so bored, but my heart rate was right where I wanted it to be for today's cardio- slow and steady. I'm thankful for 'Will and Grace' who provided comic relief during my leisurely walk workout and am looking forward to the Stairclimber later this afternoon where I'll really get things cookin'...

Speaking of cooking, I came home and devoured my breakfast:
One cup of egg whites, 1/2 cup rolled oats with cup of Almond milk (40 cals) and 1tbsp Bee Pollen, 1 tbsp Flaxseed and 2 Laughing Cow cheese wedges. Oh, and a spot of (green) tea! Cheerio!

I should probably just save this picture and post this every morning because this is what I eat for breakfast. Every morning. The only other deviation is Kashi GoLean (and egg whites). The thing is, I don't get bored eating many of the same things every day. Yes, I like trying new foods here and there, but I'm not really into "gourmet" type cooking and really enjoy your basic lean meat, complex carb and vegetables entree. No fancy sauce. No shmancy glaze. No expensive price tag. I'd rather have more food for less (without all the exotic add-ons) than a Barbie-sized meal you could cover with your hand that costs twice as much. No thanks! (then again, maybe that is how she keeps that teeny waist...sigh)

Holy gosh, Batman, it's almost noon! Hubbs will be home for lunch soon!

1) Is there anything you eat on a daily basis that you never tire of?
2) Do you enjoy doing cardio? If so, what kind? I do not enjoy doing cardio, but if I have to I like the elliptical and stationary bike (so I can read my book!). If it is a HIIT workout I like the treadmill to do sprints or incline speed walking or the Stairclimber, where I frequently "see Jesus". I'm telling you, I just about die each time I get on there HA!
