Venting

Good morning!
Today is Friday-my favorite day of the week! Since F-F-Friday is my f-f-favorite, I am going to start a new tradition. Each Friday I'll include a list of my "Five Faves" in some category. Today's category, Five Favorite Fruits:
  1. Strawberries
  2. Blueberries
  3. Raspberries
  4. Blackberries
  5. Snozberries..."Snozberries? Who ever heard of a snozberry?"

As you can tell, when it comes to fruit, berries are my favs and aside from avocado, tomato and cantaloupe, I don't each much else when it comes to fruit, simply because I don't really care for it. I guess that is a good thing though, because as I get closer to competition I won't be getting much of any fruit for a while..

Moving on...today I had a hot, steamy photo shoot with my breakfast! It seems my bowl of goodness is a natural behind the camera:) As usual I filled my tank with the following fuel:

  • 1/2 c dry rolled oats
  • 1 c Almond Breeze (unsweetened vanilla)
  • 1 tbsp bee pollen
  • 2 tbsp flax seed
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 Laughing Cow cheese wedge
Sorry, apparently I don't know how to align photos yet. Anyway, this breakfast is lean, clean and will make me a fighting machine in about half an hour when I do a full body workout." I'll be up in the gym just workin' on my fitness"...

I thought I'd share a funny story about last night's slumber (or lack thereof). In the past month or two I just can not seem to fall asleep at night. It's like as soon as the lights are out and we're nestled in bed my mind AWAKENS and I get excited and anxious thinking about transforming my body and entering a bikini figure competition (and I don't even have a date set, geez!). I tell myself "hush already! Go to sleep, you!", but I just can't seem to to do so. I toss and turn (poor hubby) and I'm up like three times a night visiting la toilette because I drink so much flippin' water throughout the day, including tea before bed (DOH!) For a gal who feels fully rested on 9-10 hours of sleep, this has not been good to get 5-6 hours of interrupted sleep. At midnight I had had it and swallowed the blue pill (no, not that pill)- Sleep II, an over-the-counter sleep aid. It must have worked because I was o-u-t until my sweet man woke me for breakfast this morning. He asked me in the kitchen, "Honey, do you remember our conversation last night?" and I said, "what?! No, I was out of it" and he said, "hmm, you don't remember anything?" and I said, "uh, no..." Well, apparently I awoke from my sleep in the middle of the night frantic gasping with fear at something on the ceiling. I scared my poor husband to death who jumped out of bed to see what was the matter (and quite possibly defend his damsel in distress from whatever it was that scared me). Not seeing anything he asked, "What?! What is it???" and I pointed to our air conditioning vent and said, "There, look!!!" and, a bit annoyed, he said, "It's ok, hon, you're just dreaming. It's only the air conditioning vent" and I curtly replied, "Well, I know that. I just wanted you to see it" and then as quickly as I awoke, I fell back on my pillow and was out cold. We were laughing about it this morning (because, apparently I do that sort of thing a LOT).

Ok, time for my workout! YAY! I got my ipod, got my Polar HRM, my trusty water bottle and, most importantly, a goal to achieve!

Lata!

1) What are your five favorite fruits?
2) What helps you get to sleep at night when your mind is restless?

BTW- I don't typically take a sleep aid, and haven't in a year or so, but last night it was the only way to "shut me up". It works, though! Except for *allegedly* waking up frantic about our air vent on the ceiling, I was out cold:)
