I don't know about you, but I love the first day of a new month. I feel like it's a new beginning (well, technically it is) and it feels a little like a mini- New Years celebration in that I'm usually gung-ho about making new resolutions for the month or setting new goals. (Whether or not I stick them out until the end of the month isn't the point...) Today is no different! I woke up determined to make the most of my morning cardio and knocked out 50 minutes on the crossramp and stairmill. I've decided that since I have just 6 weeks left until the competition, I am going to have to suck it up (or in) and do cardio twice a day, at least 5 days a week. My evening cardio may just be a 30-minute job or incline walking, but it will be something. There. I said it. It's out in the open now. And, to stay accountable, I'm going to post it all on my Churn and Burn page. (BTW-Anyone know how to import MS Excel spreadsheets?) I'm going to erase all the September entries and start afresh today!
Some other Octo-goals are:
- Floss daily (seriously, it takes 2 minutes! What the heck is my problem?)
- Drink one gallon of water daily (Chug! Chug! Chug!)
- Write-up new strength-training workout plans (since obviously my progress has stalled...)
- Schedule physician appointment for yearly check-up and get bodyfat tested (EEP!)
- Become a supermodel (just seeing if you're still with me... :)
- Play 'French Maid' and clean one room of house each day in its entirety (I'm talking white-glove approval...Oui! Oui!)
- Blog 5 out of 7 days ('cuz I like it, I love it, I want some more of it...)
- Find a jeeeerb (I need something to finance my supplement addiction...)
- Attend my first Pittsburgh book club meeting (cuz I'm social like that...)
- Try a spin class (so I'll no longer be 'that girl' who watches from afar, trembling in fear...)
- Cook at least one new meal for Hubby (as long as our fire extinguisher is fully loaded)
- Spend at least 15 minutes in prayer and/or meditation a day (it's good for the soul, yo!)
After the gym this morning, my Darlin' and I headed to Mass and it is the feast-day of my very favorite saint, St. Therese of Lisieux (Little Flower).
St. Therese, known to the world as the 'Little Flower', wanted to devote her life to God since she was a little girl and at the young age of 15 she entered the convent. She died of tuberculosis when she was only 24 years old, but her devotion to her faith and her simple, child-like message to L-O-V-E has inspired the hearts of the faithful worldwide. I just love her writings and her perspective on God and faith and was happy today in Mass to reflect on her life and honor her legacy. Props to my 'Lil T!
OH, HOORAY! Just got a call from the auto shop stating that our car's exhaust pipe thinga-ma-jig needs replacing. That's FAN-tastic! It will cost $370. TOTALLY AWESOME! RIGHT ON!
Sigh. We just wanted to get the darn thing inspected and didn't realize it would end up costing 5xs as much. I shouldn't complain. It could be a lot worse. We could not have a car at all...
Wow, this post has been all over the place. All that I learned in English composition about transitioning topics seems to have slipped my mind. I don't even know how I'd label this post, other than potpourri. Mmmm, smells nice!
I'm going to tidy up a bit before picking up Hubbs for lunch since currently we're down to one car. Then, I'm off to the gym to work my legs and later I'm helping a friend at one of her parties. Ya'll have an outstanding day!
QUESTION:
1) Do you have any new goals for the month of October?

I am a terrible Catholic!!! I didn't even know it was the Feast of the Saint I was named after!!!! I obviously love St. Therese. My mom has a story about how when she was pregnant with me she was dying to have a little girl with red hair so she prayed a Novena to St. Therese and the next day received 2 dozen roses :) Needless to say here I am with lots of red hair!
ReplyDeleteOMG, that's awesome! Believe me, I have some pretty incredible St. Therese rose stories myself! She's my favorite saint and you're pretty lucky to be named after her:)
ReplyDeletePS-You're also lucky to be a NATURAL redhead. I have to pay mad money to get my hair red! Hmmph!
