Hmm, where to begin. Oh, how about another 3 lbs down! That seems like a great starting place! When I woke up this morning I weighed myself and said a little prayer that I would see a drop. Boy, did I ever! My body is pretty finicky when it comes to the scale. I only weigh myself once a week (for mental reasons) and the trend seems to be that I'll stay the same weight for two weigh-ins in a row, then see a 2.5-3 lb drop. I guess that's just how
As it stands, I am 13.2 lbs away from what I want to be for competition...and, um, I only have 8 weeks plus 5 days to do it. DOH! According to my nerdy calculations, it means in order to get to my "competition goal weight", I need to lose 1.65 lbs per week until that glorious Saturday where I'll wear an itty-bitty bikini and 5" inch heels and strut my stuff. Does losing 1.65 lbs per week seem extreme? No, one to two lbs a week is still considered healthy. My question is: Will it be possible for me? Ehhh, that I don't know. I guess we'll just have to see, huh?
So, as I said in my last post, this past weekend we visited friends near Parkersburg, WV. We had a great time and the good-girl-that-I-am stayed on plan 100% the entire weekend. My Hubbs is so impressed by my sheer determination and self-control to not stray one bit from my competition diet. At this point, junk food doesn't even seem remotely appealing to me when I think of how far I've come and how far I still need to go to get my "Best Body".
I packed all my own food (covered here in ice) that included:
- Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze
- 5 chicken breasts
- Green beans
- Salsa
- Jay Robb Whey protein packets
- Laughing Cow cheese
- Two Salmon burgers
- Cashews pre-weighed in little zip lock baggies
I inundated Hubbs with facts on supplements, weight training, and fat loss throughout the drive and he listened for as long as he could stand it before putting on a Brad Paisley CD. HA! He's so patient with me, especially since this competition has kinda become my main focus lately, but I know he will be happy when it is over, too, so that I can talk about "other stuff" relative to life:)
On Saturday, we headed over to the Sternwheel Festival.
I sat in the backseat between the cutest kids ever:
These pics do NOT do these kids justice. So adorable and well-mannered!
*Side note* I have never wanted boys and only wanted girls...until this past weekend. OMG, Hayden stole my heart and Carter is just the tiniest, most precious thing ever! Hayden is two-years-old and talks non-stop. SO CUTE! He carries on full conversations with you and repeats almost everything you say. Hubbs taught him to say "Let's Go, Penn State!", much to his daddy's dismay. (He's an OSU fan and doesn't want Hayden rootin' for PSU HAHA!)Bathroom shot at festival
Anyway, moving on. Look what lurked around every corner at the festival!!!
I won't lie-- everything smelled AMAZING--especially the fresh Kettlecorn popping-- and I did have a moment of weakness where I wished I wasn't on a competition diet. However, that moment of weakness immediately turned to STRENGTH when I looked around and saw soooo many morbidly-obese people walking around:( The people watching was something else, I'll tell ya that much! Our friend told me that of all the most obese cities in the country, several were in West Virginia and I'm sad to say, I could see why (at least from the people I saw at this festival.) I told Hubby that it would be SO awesome to be a life coach or personal trainer and help these people, but then when I saw them eating their weight in funnel cakes and cheese fries, I realized that each one of us has to want to be helped. I've been overweight and let me tell you, I wasn't really "living". Not living life to the fullest, at least.
Anyway, seeing so many morbidly obese people (in tight clothes, I might add!) made me that much happier to eat what I brought:
4 oz chicken plus an ounce of cashews. FYI-I always eat my cashews last because it's the yummiest and I like to "end on a good note." HA!
After the festival, we went back to the house and watched football. We watched the Ohio State game and the Penn State game and I haven't seen Hubby that stressed in a while:( Playing the #1 team in the country for their second game and only scoring 3 pts is definitely not what he was hoping for for Penn State, but at least they scored something! HA!
I went for a 15-minute interval sprint run during half-time and just about died! I don't remember the last time I ran sprints, but it was killer and my legs felt like jelly the next morning! I also worked my abs while watching the game! I did 90 crunches (bicycle crunches interspersed with raised leg crunches, plus one minute of plank.) It felt great!
On Sunday we woke up and hung out for a bit and then Hubbs and I said our "goodbyes" and went to Mass at a local church that was on our route home. We always make it a priority to find a church on Sunday when we are traveling and we liked the quaint little church we attended:) After that, we were on the road again, but not before grabbing some coffee.
I was super-duper tired so I chose the coffee called "INTENSE". I don't think I needed an "intense" amount of coffee for a 3-hour car ride, but at least it kept me awake! I also got started on my water for the day! (And yes to you observant readers-- I am wearing the same shirt as the day before because my astringent spilled in my suitcase and stained my other one! DOH!)
Let's just say Hubbs had to make a few extra pit stops for me! HA!
Well, I'm off to do my Back/Bis workout. I'll be back to recap the remainder of my weekend later this evening so check back lata, gata:)
QUESTION:
1) What is your favorite carnival food? Mine is definitely kettlecorn/popcorn. OMG, I love my fav crunchy snack and can't wait to include it back in my diet post comp!
2) How much water do you drink per day? I'm shootin' for a gallon per day but most days drink about 2 liters. When I buy or fill an entire gallon jug, I seem to drink it all vs. when I constantly fill up my 24 oz water bottle. Having my daily water in ONE container really does help me drink the full gallon. I actually filled that gallon jug (above) with our filtered water this morning and will just drink that all day.

you are definitely admirable! Im not sure I would have been able to hit up the fair and stick to it.
ReplyDeleteI always get an Indian Taco and a corn dog. the rest I don't care about too much.
I drink prob 1-2 liters a day. Sometimes 3---used to drink a gallon quite often though!
Oh man the 2 things that I love from the fair are funnel cakes and fried ice cream..sooo good!!
ReplyDeleteGood job on sticking to your diet though! It is hard when all those smells are coming at ya! LOL
You are doing so awesome girlie!!! I can't wait to see your final results!
ReplyDeletethank you so much for your amaizng comment on my post the other day! I am so happy that we are doing this together! that is exactly what I go thorugh when I see all of this junk and it DOES smell so good, but then my ability to say no turns into strength which turns into HELL NO i don't want any of that! I bring my food, chicken, beans, brown rice, nut butter packets etc and I am a happy camper!
ReplyDeleteI honestly dont even LIKE funnel cake and fair food---if I were in italy and bread and cheese were around me well then that would be another story! haha
I drink a shit ton of water...probably gallon or so a day, I just always have a bottle on me at all times!
