Ice, Ice Baby

Ello!

How art thou, blog friends? Hopefully you are doing better than I am at the moment:( I'm currently lying down on the couch with my leg elevated and a Ziploc baggie resting on my knee. I'm in quite a bit of pain and my knee is most definitely inflamed. All because I did not listen to my body this morning. STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!

I didn't sleep very well last night and when I woke up this morning my knee felt achy with a deep, dull pain. I figured it was because I pushed myself super-duper hard yesterday doing 30minutes of sprints at 9.0-9.5mph (30 sec sprint/30-45 sec rest, repeat for half an hour). It was an intense workout and I think my left knee bore the brunt of that "intensity". Regardless, this morning I knew I probably should not do morning cardio since my knee felt achy, but I ignored all rationality (again, STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!) and went ahead to the gym and did a lower(ish) impact bike/crossramp workout for 45 minutes. Let's just say, when I was walking back to my car afterward, I could literally feel the heat permeating from my knee and I've realized I had just made it a whole heck of a lot worse. If there is an award for "Moron of the Day", I suppose I'd be "the winner".

I know, the resemblance to me is uncanny, isn't it?

As for now, I'm just going to park myself on the couch and keep icing my knee every 20 minutes and also take a few NSAIDS to relieve the inflammation and, hopefully, I'll feel better by this afternoon. It's funny because last night I was praying that God would be with me and not let me injure myself these last few days and then I go (on my own free will, of course!)and do something like this. Please learn from my mistake-- if you are experiencing any sort of pain, it's not worth it to "work through it" if there is a chance you'll only make it worse. STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!

So, I've been a bit sporadic posting this week, but I just haven't felt "up to it" as much. I've got soooo much running through my head and just can't believe that the months of hard work and effort that I've put in the gym will be displayed for all in just 9 days! Holy crow, the competition is next weekend! I'm skerred. Somebody hold me. Yesterday I was looking at videos of IFBB Pro Bikini girls on stage and I was NOT loving the overly sexual posing and "butt sticking outting" of some of those girls up on stage and for a brief moment thought to myself, "What the heck am I doing?!" Then, I talked to Hubbs and we both agreed that I have to remain true to myself and just be "me". I don't have to stick out my butt and shimmy on stage to be sexy. I'm confident, effervescent and will bring CLASS and FUN to the stage, without overdoing the sexiness. This competition TO ME is about being proud of what I've accomplished in dropping 31 lbs since May and transforming my physique, as well as my life:)

OK, I need to put this bag of ice back in the freezer so I'm going to get going. But, before I do, here are a few quick updates for ya:

***As of this morning, I am only 2.2 lbs away from my initial stage goal weight!!! HECK YES!!! That means that since this blog started I'm down 22lbs and since starting BFL in May I'm down 31 lbs!!!

***We finally bought a new camera this past weekend so I'll be back to posting more pics soon!

***One of those pics is a photo of my dinner the past two nights in a row since I've been making Kale Crisps. I forgot how much I LOVED kale crisps!!! Nom Nom Nom

***Yesterday I surprised myself by doing 100 straight-leg hanging leg raises (not all in a row, though). I was so pumped up and that is definite testimony that my core is getting stronger and stronger! YAY!

***I've been getting a few questions here and there from readers and haven't been able to respond via this blog (boo!) so I'm going to make an FAQ page. If you have questions, I'd be happy to post and answer there. Thanks!

Have a beautiful, healthy day! ;)

  2. oh! sorry to hear about the knee!! you dont know how close i was to pushing through my knee issue today, maybe it was YOUR rational voice i listened to and not mine, lol!!!

i do hope you RICE tonight and feel better bt the weekend. i have injured myself within the last couple of weeks of prep and it stinks! i had to rely on nutrition and genetics more than ever!

oh,AND i really think it is SMART,and a GREAT IDEA,to be true to yourself on stage. IMO some of the bikini gals took the sexiness overboard. you can still be sexy and classy without taking it to the extreme!

sending warm positive feel better soon vibes your way!!!

  3. BE TRUE TO who you are 100% the judges WILL notice your confidence over any of the "posing" you do! I have seen some girls go out there and make it look like they are "working" and seen the judges shake their heads in disappointment. They even announced at one of my shows that this is a family show and to please tone down the bikini posing! LOL!

Your going to KILL it... and so sorry about your knee. I had a meniscal tear once because I pushed myself too hard for one of my shows. It still gets to me a little bit but now I have learned what moves trigger it! No harm in taking it easy. You are ahead of schedule. You will drop easily 5 pounds the last week~

Whoop Whoop! Can't wait to see pics! Oh and by the way I did post the nutrition facts for those recipes for you :)
