Listen to your gut...or you'll be listening to your gut!

I've got my warm cup of coffee in hand and the Big Band/Swing channel playing throughout the house and I'm feelin' mighty cozy right about now! Not a bad way to begin my favorite day- Friday!
Last night I got a great night's sleep, BUT it didn't start off that great. About 6:30pm I did my evening cardio session before dinner and knocked out about 40 extra minutes on the bike. When I got back to the house I was ravenous. (Like, get the heck out of my way before I topple you, ravenous!) I nuked a turkey burger I made earlier in the day and gobbled it down while I cooked an entire bag of frozen cauliflower. I never eat frozen cauliflower but decided to try it because it's less expensive. Well, let me just tell you, it was soooo disgusting! I swear it tasted just like the cheap, plastic bag it came in! I checked the expiration date which was fine, so I knew it hadn't gone "bad" or anything, but it was just gross.

I dumped the entire bag into a glass bowl with a few tablespoons of water and nuked it until soft and began devouring it immediately. I don't know if it tasted like plastic because it came in a plastic freezer bag or if its because I put saran wrap over top when I steamed it (???), but it was just so naaaasty! I added a little salt to see if that would help get it down and when that didn't I added Nutritional Yeast. For some reason this week I've been putting "nooch" on my veggies. It's good stuff:)

Anyway, I was seriously so hungry that I didn't care that the cauliflower tasted "off" so i finished the entire bag. STUPID! STUPID! STUPID! About 5 minutes later is when my stomach put on a very noisy concert. My tummy was making the weirdest noises ever and I started feeling nauseous and icky. I spent the rest of the night curled up in fetal position, puffed up like a blowfish and trying to just breathe so I didn't get "sick". Oh, it was awful! Hubby gave me some peppermint oil and that helped a little, but it was just rough:( Not that I have to tell you smart women out there, but ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR GUT! God knows I was, because the jungle noises kept me awake all night:( When something doesn't "feel" right, it probably isn't... Sheesh!

Thank goodness when I woke up this morning I was good as new! Phew! I had planned on "sleeping in" until 6am or 7am so that I could rest more, but actually didn't wake up until 8:30am! Man, that felt nice! What didn't feel nice was that I was hungry again but wanted to get my cardio in before breakfast. Drats! I quickly changed, filled my water bottle and headed out into the chilly air to head to our apartment gym.

I had a FABULOUS workout! It didn't start off fabulous because my HRM wasn't detecting a pulse (ha!) but after 10 minutes in it recognized me as "living" again, and we were off! I ran some, walked some (at a steep incline) and sideway-shuffled my little heart out. As you can see, I burned some major calories, which hopefully will equate to burning major flub (from my hips and abs, preferably!) 15 days!!!!!

When I returned, I ate a ginormous bowl of oatbran and an egg white omelet.

Gosh I ♥ oatbran! I'd been eating my usual morning oatmeal daily since May, but April reminded me the other day about how yummy oatbran is. I remembered I had a bag in my fridge so these days I'm all about the bran, baby. I added a packet of Truvia and some cinnamon, bee pollen and a few drops of liquid Vitamin E. It sure did make for a great breakfast and I have no doubt will fuel my workouts today. It's LEGS day, so I always eat more carbs on these days.

I hope your day is filled with positivity and empowerment! I'll be back later to show you something I got in the mail that I'm VERY excited about!

♥,T

Questions:

1) Do you typically eat frozen or fresh produce? I like getting the Bird's Eye frozen vegetables (because you can microwave straight from the bag!) and also love the Alexia Sweet Potato fries. Also, the other night I tried frozen Full Circle Organic Green Beans and they were AWESOME! I need to buy more of those!

2) Oatbran or Oatmeal? I love them equally, but I've been enjoying the texture of oatbran more lately. Reminds me of grits or Cream of Wheat, which I love, too! :)

  1. Ugh I know that taste your talking about! Usually I can cover it up by blending it up with a lot of spices for "mashed" cauliflower though!

And yay for oatbran! I used to only be a oatmeal girl but I started eating oatbran more, and now I can't ever go back! It seems to have better nutrition facts too for some odd reason..either way, I like the texture more!
