I'm back for post #2 of the day, just like I said I would! I just ate my post-workout meal after an INSANE leg workout. I guess that Jack3d really does its job! I did a circuit-type workout that utilizes only compound moves and then did isolation exercises for the glutes at the end. My butt was on fire! (Wow, that sounds really awkward to say...) Anyway, here is the circuit workout I created:
Warm up- 5 minutes incline walking on treadmill- 5% incline, 4.0 speed plus 50 static lunges
Leg Circuit- I did this 3 times through with very little rest:
DB Squats- 20# each hand
Reverse Lunges- 10# each hand, 15 reps
Bench Step-ups- 10# each hand, 15 reps (I used to do 15# or 20# per hand but my forearms would begin to burn and ache:(
One-legged Calf raises- 30# dumbbells, 20 reps per leg
Bulgarian Split Squats- 10# each hand, 15 reps
Plie Squat- 40#, 15 reps
After my circuit, I did 3 sets of 15 reps of the following:
Weighted Donkey Kicks- 20# behind the knee
Weighted Butt Bridges- 20# on lower abs/hips
(I shouldn't be able to sit down tomorrow after these....OUCH!)
Total time: 1 hr 15 mins; 650 calories burned <---Wowza! You better believe I was famished after this workout. After my awesome cardio workout this morning, that puts me at 1050 calories burned today! That's more than I've eaten! Sheesh! No need to worry, though. There are still meals to be had for me today. It's all good:)
So, earlier today I said I'd be back to post some things I've received in the mail this week. I was happy to get these two things today:
Yay! I had been waiting for November's Oxygen issue!
For under $20 you get 4 lbs and a serving is just one ounce, so this should last a long time. I'm going to try it in the morning and I'll let you know what I think! I can see me baking with it in the future, fo shizz! (yeah, that wasn't a typo. I said "me" and "baking" in the same sentence. No, I'm not drunk...HAHA!)
OK, so those two things in the mail are all fine and dandy, but what I REALLY wanted to show you makes me ridiculously happy! I received these items in the mail a few days ago and can't wait to sport them at the gym:

BACK
I needed new workout gear and thought, "Why not make it my own!?" Remember in this post I said that I had ordered my "gear" to wear backstage at my bikini competition? Well, it arrived and I love it!
Ya'll don't even know how special 'Texas Gunslinger' has become to me. This blog is like my "baby" and has become my greatest creative outlet. I've begun to identify myself with the name and what it represents (in my mind, at least!) This blog is a place to sound off on the fierce, passionate, kick-butt women who don't settle for mediocrity, but rather strive for EXCELLENT. Dictionary.com writes that a "gunslinger" is slang for
I don't know what God has in store for me, but I feel like this is just the beginning in terms of my health and fitness career. I want to become part of the fitness/bodybuilding world and compete in both bikini and fitness and I want to build my career in some aspect revolving around health and fitness, whether it be personal training, coaching, writing...who knows! All I do know, is that I am passionate about health and fitness and want to immerse myself in doing what makes me happy. They say if you do what you love, you'll never "work" a day in your life. Now, that's what I'm talkin' bout! :)
Anyway, I'm super excited to sport my Texas Gunslinger gear to my competition. It'll be kinda like a "safety blanket" in some aspects. After all, this blog started right in the beginning of prepping for my show, so I think it's only fitting:)

I don't know about you, but I most certainly can relate to being "aggressive and decisive" in the gym, as well as investing my time and energy into seeking large, quick gains...muscle gains, that is! ;)
