22 miles, baby!

Haaaaaaaaaaappy Monday, friends!

Here's hopin' your day is off to a spectacular start and that your weekend was a fun, relaxing and enjoyable one! Mine sure was!

Saturday my Darlin' and I took it easy. We were actually relieved we didn't have plans since we've been so busy the past few weekends and it was so nice not to have a single obligation. We went to the gym Saturday morning where I annihilated worked my hamstrings and glutes. Talk about working out to failure. It's two days later and I'm still walking funny! After the gym, we headed over to The Vitamin Shoppe where I ran through the aisles like a contestant on Supermarket Sweep! Seriously, my husband cringes when we go in there because he knows he'll be droppin' dough like a part-time employee at Pizza Hut. Flowers may be the way to a girl's heart, but supplements are the way to mine! (Oh, speaking of flowers, look what Hubbs brought home for me--just 'cuz):
What a sweetheart! They are so beautiful!

Anyway, after loading up on supplemental loot, we ran errands. Costco was on the list and we bought some essentials:

When I was unloading our loot, I opened the ginormous cinnamon bottle and laughed when I saw this label:
Is it just me, or isn't is quite obvious that you'd have to remove the sticker before using?

We were ravenous by the time we returned from Costco and and immediately got to grillin'. I tried our new Mahi Mahi steaks that they were deeeee-lish, although they tasted exactly like chicken to me.

His and Hers plates

I ate my Mahi Mahi with organic green bean cutlets, cauliflower and an Amazing Grass packet in 1/2 c chocolate soy milk and Hubbs ate his mammoth rib-eye steak with hash browns, green beans and a Corona, because he can:)

After dinner we contemplated getting cleaned up and heading to a really cool outside bar to meet friends, however my Weather Man looked at the radar and it looked like pretty heavy thunderstorms in the area. We decided to just stay in and relax with a movie rather than go out. Good thing we did because it rained like crazy a short while later. We watched the thunderstorms from our balcony and it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! I love thunderstorms, how about you?

Another great thing we did this weekend was go bike riding!!! I'd been wanting to go trail riding since last summer but for one reason or the other we never got around to it. We don't have our own bikes, so we decided to drive to Ohiopyle (about an hour+ away) and rent bikes and ride for a few hours along the insanely beautiful river trails. Ya'll would have laughed if you had seen me "try out" a few bikes before choosing one. You have to understand, I haven't ridden a bike since in nearly 20 years, since I was a kid! Other than the stationary bikes at the gym, I had not been on a REAL bicycle in forever and I laughed as I tested them out, because I was shaky and almost ran into a tree! HA! Once I found THE bike, I felt more confident and was ready to go!

And, get this- we biked 22 miles!!! We kept giving each other high-fives and saying, "We rock!", because we surprised ourselves that we managed 22 miles our first time on bikes in roughly 20 years!

The scenery on the trail was breathtaking! Nearly 80% of our ride was along the river, where we had the most awesome view of the rapids and streams. Gosh, it was gorgeous! I thanked God for His beautiful work and for being healthy enough to ride and experience the peace and tranquility of nature. It felt great to be "disconnected" for the world for a few hours and ride alongside my Best Friend:) Here are a few of the pics of our trailride:

And look how many calories I burned--one way:

I burned close to the same amount of calories on a return leg of the trail, though we took it easy for parts of the way and stopped a bit to take in the views and rehydrate. It was a magnificent day and although by bum hurts from the ride, it was such an awesome day that we think we may drive out there again next weekend! Hey, I'd rather get my cardio in outside any day of the week than do it in the gym! KnowwhatImean?

Well, that's all for now! I'll be back in a while with another post:)

Question:

1) What is your favorite outdoor cardio exercises? Mine definitely is biking! I sure hope to do a lot more in the future, especially during the Fall. I bet the scenery then will be "too much to handle".

2) In which store do you tend to spend a lot of money? I love The Vitamin Shoppe and Sephora! I think I keep those stores in business! HA!

  1. i love running on our huge big bridge. sometimes it's scary being up so high and around all the speeding cars, but it's so worth it when you're all done.

i spend too much money in grocery stores for sure! i'm a mess!
