Doesn't everyone store their purse in the freezer?

This was yesterday's post that must not have uploaded. OOPS!

Happy happy, joy joy! It's Saturday!

Today has been a great day so far! I woke up at 8:30am and did 50 minutes of sleepwalking low-intensity cardio at our apartment complex sorry excuse for a gym. Really, it's craptastic, but since my friend was picking me up at 10:00am, I knew I'd save time by just working out 50 yards away than driving to and from our regular gym. As much as I do not like our apartment gym with its dinosaur outdated equipment, I am thankful to have it nearby as a "back-up plan" when I'm in a time crunch. It has two treadmills, an elliptical that doesn't even turn ON and a stationary bike that I fear may fall apart if I sit on it longer than 5 minutes. Seriously, I once attempted a workout on it and almost fell off because the seat wobbles (plus it hurts my bum!). Since the treadmill hurts my knees, I got on the elliptical and to my surprise I actually felt resistance! The stupid thing won't even turn ON, yet I was able to move it as fast or as slow as I wanted and with my Polar HRM I was able to track time and my heart rate. Score!

(No sign of life, but I did burn a little over 300 cals using it):

The purpose of this morning's workout was a s low-intensity cardio. Not my fav, but it does serve its purpose. I'm a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) gal all the way, but to prepare for competition I'm channeling my inner tortoise and sticking to steady-state cardio for the time being. "Slow and steady wins the race", right?

It's funny how I burned 300+ calories doing 50 minutes of boring-snoring cardio, yet I can burn nearly twice that much in the same time lifting HEAVY weights. Look how many calories I burned yesterday just working UPPER body:

(Lower body workouts burn even more!)

As you can clearly see, I'd rather lift any day of the week than do cardio. Once I'm super leaned-out, I will only do HIIT to build endurance, blast calories/fat and keep my sanity!!! Lifting brings me such an amazing sense of empowerment and inner strength. Not to mention, I love DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) because it means I've really worked my muscles!!! Speaking of DOMS, my chest, calves and triceps are really feeling it today! Gooooo me!

Well, I'm off to watch the Pirates lose tonight! I'm not into baseball, but I'll go watch the game because A) the stadium is cool and 2) there is a fireworks show afterward! Since most of the food at baseball games is garbage (hot dogs, chips, fries, nachos, bite-sized heart attacks, etc.) I'll be carrying my own food with me in this:

I got my little "foodpurse" at TJ Maxx for $6.99 and love it! I keep it in the freezer (what, don't you keep your purse there?) because it is insulated and keeps my food cool when I'm traveling or will be away from home during feeding time mealtime. Plus, it looks like a real purse, so nobody knows I'm packin'! Tonight I'll be taking a protein shake, almonds and some veggies to snack on during the game. The Pirates may not win, but at least I know I will when it comes to food choices! (Wow, that was really corny...)

I'll be back to post manana!
