Hey hey hey!
So, last night the Pittsburgh Pirates actually won their game! What a pleasant surprise! We had a good time watching the game with friends, especially from our seats
high up in the stands. Even though I'm afraid
ycat of heights, it was really cool to sit in box seats, though I couldn't look down when walking because we sat right in front of the railing.
What a beautiful stadium!
I ate a snack in the car on the way to the game but found myself hungry two hours later. (
Surprise, surprise!) I made sure to scope out the food stands on the way in to see if there would be anything healthy I could nosh on later in the evening, but sadly if you weren't up for hot dogs, burgers, nachos or fries, you were out of luck. Hmmm, guess who was
in luck...
Hubbs. He enjoyed a beer, as well as french fries (and a hot dog that never even stood a chance, which was eaten before I could even take a pic!) How come
he can eat all that greasy goodness and be
down a pound the next morning while I only
smell the food and gain weight?
Sigh.
Mufasa roared and clawed within me between the 6th and 7th inning and I
told politely asked my
annoyingly fit husband to accompany me to get some grub. Knowing what happens if Mufasa misses feeding time, he quickly obliged. We walked around for a minute and even asked a member of the event staff where we mind find something healthy. She directed us to the very same food stand where my better half purchased his greasy anti-foods
that smelled soooo good. I read the entire menu and was juuuuust about to walk off in defeat when the heavens opened and I saw 'Oven-Roasted Chicken Breast' in small print in the top left hand corner! I felt so relieved and asked for the turkey *only* with a side of lettuce and tomato. They looked at me funny for not wanting the bread and chips that came with it, but I'm used to that by now. Besides, who needs chips when you are already eating bread or vice versa? Happy to spend
entirely way too much $9.00 for a slab of meat, I grabbed a water bottle and we headed back to our seats. Mufasa purred and was satisfied.
(
Please disregard my flat, lifeless hair. My bangs were on strike and we're currently working out negotiations for them to resume volume.)
Anyway, I
played with my Droid watched the game and was happy
somebody finally won so that the fireworks could begin. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, baseball is
not my thing. I was there to see friends and fireworks and the actual game was more of a means to an end. There was also a concert by George Thorogood and the Destroyers. (
Yeah, I didn't know who they were, either.) However, I got out my Droid and wikipedia'd it and found out that they wrote the rock/blues songs, "Bad to the Bone" and"Who Do You Love?" They were
loud good but I was most excited about the fireworks!
All in all, I'm happy with myself and will award myself a
gold star for finding something healthy at a baseball game with nothing but greasy, heart-attack-waiting-to-happen foods. I continue to impress even myself with my strong self-control. Next time, however, I'm going to take more snacks than I think I'll need, because I'm underestimating my lion of an appetite.
ROAAAR!
Ummm you are so freaking PRETTY!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for finding GOOD foods at a baseball game!! that is really impressive! the foods there are TERRIBLE!! go you!!! I always take a TON of snacks everywhere! haha
hahha mufasa! I'm impressed you found good healthy good there!
ReplyDeleteI've run intot he same problem at ball games here in Toronto. The only somewhat healthy option is a sub sandwich but it comes premade so you have to scrape off the cheese and the globs of mayo. For $10 its not worth it to do all that work and end up with a decent at best meal.
